Brothers and sisters — whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Paul closed his letter to the Philippians with these words (4:8). This is holy and wise counsel, and I believe that they are relevant to us today. Basically, what Paul is saying is focus on the good righteous and holy things that God has blessed us with, and know that His blessings flow! And you know what? His blessings are flowing and they will continue to flow in and through the beautiful people of Wightman UMC!
One last note, in the very same letter, Paul also exhorted the people to “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Phil. 2:14-15). Admittedly, the current circumstance that we are all experiencing makes verses like this very challenging, but you know what? Do it anyway – why? For Christ — do it for Christ – Shine as lights in the world for Christ! Now is the time. God bless all of you!
