Pastor Michael Turner grew up in Lyman, SC and received his early formation in the faith at Victor UMC in Greer, SC.  In 1997 he graduated from Wofford College and then completed his Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School in 2000.

After serving as Associate Pastor at Lyttleton Street UMC in Camden for three years, Michael served as pastor of both Liberty Chapel and Friendship UMCs and was the United Methodist campus minister at Francis Marion University for four years before coming to Wightman in June of 2007.  Michael and his wife, Heather, daughter, Ellie Grace, and son, Drew, are excited to be in Prosperity and at Wightman.

“I look forward to the great things God wants to accomplish here at Wightman.  This church is filled with incredibly gifted people with a passion for being in ministry to the community.  The future is limitless.”

Carol Smith - Director of Music & Adult Handbell Director
E-mail Carol

As a Baptist minister’s daughter, I grew up in the church and accepted Christ as Savior at the age of 8 years old. Church music has always been a part of my life, and at the age of 16, I became our church organist. During this time as organist, I felt God calling me to devote my life to serving Him through music.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s degree in Education from Francis Marion University.
My husband, Rick, and I have two children, Ricky and Laura, a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, and a grandson, Brian.
During the last 37 years, I have served as church organist, pianist, music director, or youth director. I am also a public school music teacher and presently teach at Gallman and Reuben Elementary Schools in Newberry. God is at work at Wightman, and I am excited to be a part of a church energetic for Christ! My prayer is that God will be exalted through these important ministries.
